Darren Shaper picks off 2 passes to help New Orleans down St. Louis 31-10.

WEEK 9 REVIEW

NFC East

Carolina (9-0) continues their dominance of the NFC east with 31-20 victory over 2nd place Atlanta (7-2).  Peyton Manning is almost invincible in this game completing 23 of 27 passes for 264 yards and throwing 3 TD's.

Washington (6-3) holds off a 4th quarter comeback by Tampa Bay to win 24-21.  Washington would execute 13 play, 73 yard drive to score the winning TD with 1:06 left in the game.

NFC Central

Rudy Johnson runs roughshod over KC defensive line, rushing for 140 yards and 3 TD's to lead Chicago (7-2) to a 24-14 victory over KC (1-8).

Los Angeles goes for win and fails on a 2 point conversion with 1:46 left in the game and Minnesota (5-4) slips out of the left coast with a 20-19 victory over LA (3-6).

New Orleans (4-5) uses two Sharper interception returns for TD's to blast St. Louis (6-3) 31-10.  Tomlinson has 150 all purpose yards (66 rush, 84 pass) and 1 TD to lead the New Orleans offense.  Even with the loss, St. Louis still has a commanding 3 game lead over Los Angeles.

NFC West

San Francisco (2-7) uses a balance attack of RB S. Jackson (143 yards, 1 TD) and WR R. Williams (130 yards, 2 TD's) to give Detroit (4-5) a 26-21 loss.

AFC East

Pittsburgh (4-5) would take AFC East leader Boston (7-2) to overtime, but a Boston INT on the first Favre pass in OT would allow Boston to sneak away with the 20-17 victory.

Buffalo (4-5) would hold Miami (2-7) scoreless in the 2nd half and force second half Miami turnover to win 13-6 in a tough fought game.

AFC Central

Indianapolis (9-0) would force 5 Seattle (2-7) turnovers to hold off Seattle in a 27-17 victory.  Alexander rushes for 175 yards and 1 TD for Indy.  Harrington would throw for 337 yards for Seattle, but he would also throw 4 INT's.

Cincinnati (6-3) after building a 24-7 lead would hang on to win 27-21 after a late Oakland (4-5) attempted comeback.  Barber continues to be the focal point of the Cincinnati offense by running for 139 yards of the teams 223 total rushing yards.

Dallas (5-4) would hold San Diego (3-6) to 136 yards of net offense.  SD defense would not be able to return the favor as Dallas would have 192 rushing and 232 passing yards.  Dallas wins 24-14.

With the 27-13 victory by Houston (4-5) over Denver (2-7), the AFC Central would complete their dominance over the AFC West by going 4-0
